Certain habits (mostly based on frequency) can push away a partner. One of the biggest is criticizing the partner frequently.

Another barrier to relationships can be if one partner is less emotionally communicative than the other. However, by the same token, being distant when a partner is communicating distress can also destroy a relationship.
